1531779 Converting rotary to reciprocating motion W NIEHOFF [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK NIEHOFF KG] 26 Oct 1976 [24 Nov 1975] 44514/76 Heading F2Q A carriage 19 is reciprocated by a mechanism comprising a belt or chain 15, to which the carriage 19 is attached, passing over pulleys 16, 17 and 11, 12 and being driven alternately in opposite directions by the pulleys 11, 12 being clutched alternately to shafts 6, 7 which are continuously driven from a motor M through gearing 3, 4 & 5. In a modification, driving gear 20, 21 alternately drive opposite sides of a double-sided rack 22. The drive members and parts associated therewith have a greater moment of inertia than the driven members and parts associated therewith. (For Figures see next column.)
