Abstract
1530752 Sheet-ordering apparatus INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 16 May 1977 [1 June 1976] 20534/77 Heading B8R Documents to be fed along a first path are advanced by driven belts 9, 23, Figs. 1 and 3, into frictional contact with which the documents are urged by the weight of balls 10, 20, Figs. 1, 2, 3, freely rotatable in sockets 11, 16 on ball-carriers 14, 16 pivoted at 17, into the nip between more rapidly rotating rollers 12 and nip rollers 13, 21. If a document is to be fed along a second path, a gate 18, which also acts as a guide for documents approaching the belts, and which is also pivoted at 17, is lowered to bring a lip 19 into the path of documents approaching the rollers 12. The belts are stopped with a document aligned against the lip and partly resting on rails 22. A pinch roller 36 is lowered to press the document against a belt 33, which is then driven to advance the document laterally.
