Abstract

1530671 Heat-treating glass sheets BFG GLASSGROUP 19 Feb 1976 [24 Feb 1975] 06668/76 Heading C1M In a method of heat-treating a vertical glass sheet 1 by heating to above the strain point and then cooling, forces f are applied to the sheet which act obliquely on the sheet both downwardly (b) and in both horizontal directions (a). The treatment may be for annealing or tempering, the forces preventing deformation of the sheet. The sheet 1 may be supported by clamping means 2, which are preferably mounted on a trolley 4 running along rail 5. The forces may be applied by gripping means 9 mounted on rigid U-shaped bar 6. The bar 6 may weigh, e.g., 5 kg.
