1530451 Hydration of calcium sulphate hemihydrate BPB INDUSTRIES Ltd 22 Jan 1976 [22 Jan 1975] 2849/75 Heading C1A Calcium sulphate dihydrate is obtained by hydration of the α-hemihydrate by reaction in water with the addition of a volatile nitrogenous base. Typical bases include ammonia, preferably in solution as ammonium hydroxide, and ammonium carbonate. The product may be converted to the #-hemihydrate by conventional calcination.
