Abstract

1529341 Multiplex pulse code signalling POST OFFICE 12 Jan 1976 [14 Jan 1975] 1521/75 Heading H4M A TDM exchange includes a receiver on each incoming 32 channel PCM highway comprising a regenerator, 30, a series to parallel converter 33, a buffer store 300 of capacity 8 bits, and a main store 13 having an 8 bit location for each of the 32 time channels, and the receiver is arranged such that information is transferred into buffer store 300 under the control of clock pulses derived from the incoming bit stream whereas transfer from the buffer store 300 to the main store 13 takes place under the control of one of two exchange clock pulse trains P1, P2, there being means comprising unit 306 for switching from one pulse train to the other to prevent simultaneous reading and writing operations of the buffer store 300. The pulse trains P1, P2 are separated in time by a period of half a time slot. The stores 13 of different highways may be interconnected by a space switch in the manner disclosed in Specification No. 1,398,519.
