1529277 Enlarging anodes MARSTON EXCELSIOR Ltd 7 Sept 1977 [23 Sept 1976] 39508/76 Heading C7B An existing diaphragm cell metal anode, comprising a pair of working sheets 1, 2 electrically connected e.g. by welds 3, 4 to a central current carrying post 5, is enlarged by ensuring the distal edges of the working sheets are movable relative to one another e.g. by cutting or removing U or J- shaped channels (8, 9) welded thereto, and bending e.g. cranking one or both sheets adjacent the post to increase the distance between their major portions Figs. 4, 5 (not shown). A spreader bar having a width greater than the distance between the sheets may be inserted between each pair of opposed sheets either side of the post and forced towards the post to spread the sheets outwardly.
