Abstract
1326673 Electrode structures DIAMOND SHAMROK CORP 19 April 1971 [26 Feb 1970] 22596/71 Heading C7B An electrode assembly comprises a common elongate electrode riser 1 supporting at least two foraminous or continuous sheets 3 connected thereto by moveable electrically conductive means 5 so that the distance between the electrode sheets may be varied whilst remaining in electrical contact with the electrode riser. The connecting means may be spring means biased towards either an open position, as shown, or towards a closed position; clamping bars, e.g. 37, being provided for holding the electrode in the non- biased position. A plurality of such electrodes may form the anodes in a diaphragm cell for the elecrolysis of sodium chloride, being mounted between adjacent cathodes in the closed position and thereafter opened to produce a minimum anode/cathode gap. The electrode riser may be of Ti or Ta, or Cu or A1 coated there with and the electrode working face may be of Ti or Ta having an active coating, e.g. Pt or an oxide.
