Abstract

1528125 AerialsMARCONI CO Ltd 31 Oct 1975 [13 Dec 1974] 54110/74 Heading H4A A log periodic array 10 of dipole elements, fed alternately from a common transmission line 20 are supported above ground on wires 11 between masts 16 and 18 and a point 14 on the ground. An auxiliary array 12 of shorter parasitic elements is supported in like fashion above array 10 on wires 13 each element thereof being situated vertically above a corresponding dipole of array 10 at a spacing of one eighth of the operating wavelength of the respective dipole element, thereby acting as a director but it is stated that the mutual positions of the arrays may be interchanged. It is stated that the elevational radiation pattern of the array is rotated upwards to improve the overall gain.
