Abstract

1527897 Baling K RUCKSTUHL 17 Oct 1975 [22 Oct 1974] 42756/75 Heading B8C [Also in Division B5] A compacted bale B, e.g. of wet sugar cane bagasse is formed with at least one through passage L. The bale B may be, e.g. of generally hexagonal or octagonal section, Figs. 5-9 (not shown), and bales B are stacked with their passages L in communication for air circulation, further circulation channels K preferably being defined by adjacent bales. Baling apparatus may include a filling shaft 5, filling chamber 4 and press-plate 3, along with means 9 for inserting front plates 6 between successive bales in the chamber 4. A spike 8 on the plate 3 forms the passage in the bale, the plate 3 being reciprocated by hydraulic pressure.
