Abstract

1526851 Desulphurizing furnace exhaust gases RUHRKOHLE AG 15 Jan 1976 [16 Jan 1975] 01523/76 Heading C5G [Also in Division F4] Exhaust gases from a fluidized solids furnace using as a fuel a thickened liquid/solid fuel suspension are desulphurized by adding a basic calcium compound to the fuel to adhere to the surface thereof before introducing the fuel into the furnace. The basic calcium compound, which is lime or a compound thermally decomposable thereto, may be Ca(OH) 2 , dolomite or limestone. The sulphur content of the fuel may be reduced before addition of the calcium compound.
