Abstract
1526745 Flow mixing S PROLER 8 Oct 1975 41193/75 Heading B1C [Also in Division F4] In the continuous processing of metal (including ores and concentrates) a molten stream of the metal is provided and solid charge material is moved by the stream current towards a means which submerges it beneath the surface. The submerging means may be drums 7, Fig. 1, which may be on fixed axles or rotated in either direction by the current or other means; a sloping roof to the channel in which the streams flows (Fig. 3, not shown); a sloping entrance way (207a. Fig. 4 not shown) to the channel; a vertically reciprocating channel roof (307, Fig. 5 not shown); a plurality of stepped sloping roof portions (407, Fig. 6 not shown) or successive lances (Figs. 7, 8 and 13, not shown) through which the charge material is blown by gas on to and beneath the surface of the stream. The charge may also be drawn into the stream magnetically. The flow channel may be a recirculation channel. Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown) depict a reverboratory furnace in which a continuous stream of copper matter flows between banks of copper concentrate (900) which is entrained and submerged by drums (917), Fig. 11 (not shown) depicts a furnace in which a circulation is produced by a pump, rollers or impellers (1116), having a charging means consisting of a chemical (1105) provided with submerged apertures through which the current flows.
