Abstract

1526714 Erasing magnetic tape recordings SIEMENS AG 22 June 1977 [2 July 1976] 26063/77 Heading G5R In response to a specific operator command, a logic circuit switches a combined read, write and erase head to "erase", starts a reel drive so as to erase the tape first in a forward direction until the end of the tape is directed and then in the reverse direction until the beginning of the tape is detected, and then triggers apparatus which determines a point of the tape at which a recording can be started. This latter apparatus may effect a hunting operation as described in Specification 1,484,885. As described, the specific operator command comprises actuation of a "record" key followed by actuation of a "forward" key, with simultaneous actuation of both keys for at least a predetermined length of time.
