Abstract

1526489 Mass and force meters WIRTH GALLO & CO 10 Feb 1976 [1 April 1975] 5153/76 Heading G1G A mass and force meter comprises a frame 1, a load support 2, a force distributer 6, two electrically excitable, transversely vibratable, pretensional strings 8 each having one end connected to the force distributer and the other end connected to the frame or support, first and second transmission elements each having one end connected to the force distributer for transmitting thereto a pre-tensioning force and a force depending upon the load or force to be measured, a guide having one end connected to the force distributer and the other end connected to the frame for guiding the force distributer in a statically determined way relative to the frame, digital evaluation and display means 10 mounted on the frame, and means for applying to the evaluation and display means a signal representing the vibration frequency of the strings. As shown in Fig. 1, the strings 8 are mounted horizontally between the frame and distributer 6, the first transmission element being constituted by a lever 11, a weight 12 and a wire 13, and the second transmission element being constituted by a rod 4 mounted between the local support 2 and the distributer. The guide is formed by a wire 7 mounted at an angle between the frame 1 and distributer 6. As shown in Fig. 2, the strings 8 are mounted between the load support 2 and the distributer 6, the second transmission element being constituted by a rod 17 which also acts as a guide together with a rod 16. As shown in Fig. 3, the load support 19 depends from the distributer 6 by a wire 20 forming the second transmission element, the first transmission element being formed by wire 13, 22 and 23 and weight 12, and the guide by a wire 7. As shown in Fig. 4, a lever 25, having a load support 19 at one end and a counterweight 28 at the other end, is arranged between the main frame 1 and the force distributer 6, the strings 8 being mounted between lever 25 and distributer 6. The first transmission element is constituted by a spring 29, and the second transmission element by a pin 33, which also acts as a guide mounted between knife edges on frame 1 and distributer 6. As shown in Fig. 5, the first transmission element is formed by lever 11, weight 12 and rod 37, the second transmission element by spring 38 and the guide by a wire 7. Damping means 39, 40 are provided for the support 2 and weight 12. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the vertical arm of lever 11 also constitutes the guide. A horizontally arranged version of the Fig. 5 embodiment is described with reference to Fig. 7 (not shown), and a modification of this is described with reference to Fig. 8 (not shown). As schematically shown in Fig. 9, the force distributer is represented by line 6, the first transmission element by line 51, and the second transmission element by line 52. The strings 8 are mounted in different planes 8, and separate guides 53, 54 are provided.
