Abstract

1525869 Electrical contacts CANNON ELECTRIC (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 8 March 1977 [18 March 1976] 10927/76 Heading H2E An electrical contact formed from metallic strip comprises a substantially U-shaped portion having side walls which are each provided with an extension 6, 7. At least one of the extensions 6, 7 is splayed outwardly, i.e. away from the other, and each has at its free end a portion which is bent inwardly and has a notch 9. The notches co-operate to define an aperture for insulated wire. The free end portions are staggered as shown, and crimping thereof causes the edges of the notches to rupture the wire insulation to effect electrical connection with the wire. Two notches may be provided in each free end portion to connect two wires thereto. The opposite end of the contact may be formed as a socket, as shown, or as a male contact pin.
