Abstract

1524716 Mechanical presses G P WORSLEY & CO Ltd 21 Oct 1976 [21 Oct 1975] 43082/75 Heading B5F A power press comprises two frame members 12 and 13 spaced one on each side of the axis of travel of the ram 32 and slotted at 21 to receive a press bed 22, at least one of the members 12, 13 being apertured at 14, 15 and 16 to permit access therethrough to parts of the press between the members. The ram 32 is driven by a cam 18 on a drive shaft 29, the shaft 29 being mounted in two bearing blocks 27 and 28 received in slots 26 in the two frame members 12 and 13. Guides 35 bolted to the ram 32 run in adjustable guideways 38 provided on spacing members 39 and 40 secured to and extending between the frame members 12 and 13. The members 12 and 13 are also connected by tie rods 24 and 30. The shaft 29 is driven by an electric motor 45 which also drives, via gear and sprocket wheels and chains 59 and 67, camshafts 55 (56) for feeding workpieces across the press bed 22.
