A load bearing, preferably concrete building block has at least one cavity extending over a major part of the length and height of the block and filled with urea-formaldehyde or polyurethane foam. The cavity or cavities may be blind at one end or open at both ends. Similar blocks are described and claimed in Specification 1524353.
