Abstract

1524123 Preparing zeolitic cracking catalysts W R GRACE & CO 13 Feb 1976 [14 Feb 1975] 05806/76 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] Catalysts are made by mixing clay with 2-10wt.% of a sodium compound convertible to an oxidic binder and spray drying the mixture, calcining the product for 2-4 hr at 1800-1900‹F, adding to the calcined material an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide metakaolin and nucleation centres which are colloidal particles of size 0.005-0.05 microns and composition 0.9 Œ0.1 Na 2 O : Al 2 O 3 : 2.3- 2.7 SiO 2 , heating the mixture for 14-16 hr at 150-212‹F and reducing the sodium content by ion exchange with a rare earth metal.
