152,408. Appleyard, E. P. July 11, 1919. Shuttles.-For threading shuttles in which the weft is drawn into and through the eye by suction induced by blowing through an extension of the thread-passage, a detachable tube or mouthpiece is used to avoid contact between the weaver's lips and the shuttle. In the shuttle 1, the mouthpiece 11 is inserted into the rear extension of the brass-lined thread-passage 8 to induce suction through the passage 12 to cause the weft 14 to enter the passage 8 and pass out through the porcelain rim 13 at its end. A nozzle 9 may be fixed in the passage 8, but if the mouthpiece 11 has a nozzle this is unnceessary.
