Abstract

1523672 Railway track base ANGLIAN BUILDING PRODUCTS Ltd 15 April 1976 15654/76 Heading E1G [Also in Division B5] In a method of manufacturing a ladder-like structure 1, Fig. 1, say 9 metres long, of reinforced concrete to form a pair of crossconnected longitudinal sleepers 1 for an asphalt-based railway track, whereby pairs of rail-locating clip anchorages B are initially flexibly mounted on a face board 7, Fig. 7, and then accurately embedded along each sleeper 1 during moulding by using transverse locating wires 15, Fig 8, in the concrete mould, the method steps comprise (a) positioning the anchorages B, Fig. 7, in pairs on respective templates 5; (b) surrounding each anchorage head with an individual mould box frame 10 secured to a common face board (or pallet) 7 placed over the heads; (c) filling the mould box frames 10 with flowable rubber material which sets to form a resilient mounting; (d) closing the mould boxes with covers 12; (e) inverting and transferring each face board 7 together with its pair of resiliently mounted anchorages to the concrete casting mould, Fig. 8, to form four rows of upstanding anchorage stems 4; (f) transversely aligning the stems 4 by movement into contact with tensioned cross wires 15 accurately positioned along the mould bed; (g) securing the face boards 7; and (h) pouring concrete around the stems 4. The concrete mould shown has side forms 20 and longitudinal supports 14 for the two rows of sleeper mould face boards 7 and for mould boards of the central parts of the ladder-like structure. Figs. 11-16 (not shown) indicate the arrangement of longitudinal and transverse prestressing wires.
