Abstract

152,339. Farris, H. D. April 7, 1919, [Convention date]. Hand-hole covers.-Consists in closing the cleansing opening 7 of a closet bowl by a bush or seating 8 the outside of which has a tapered surface 13 for expanding against the opening a rubber packing-ring 14, and the inside of which forms a seat for a removable plug 18. The bush, which is not removed during the cleansing operation, is expanded into the opening by turning a nut 10 which bears against a portion 16 of the packing-ring 14 to form a water and gas tight joint. The removable screwed plug 18 is sealed by a packing-ring 21 and is turned 'by a spanner fitting over the part 22. The closure is concealed by a cap 23.
