The dye of the formula I <IMAGE> of the crystal form (modification) beta having an X-ray diffraction spectrum with characteristic reflections and the following glancing angles theta (Cu-K alpha radiation) with the reported intensities: @ 4.1 4.45 4.65 5.90 10.00 10.20 11.35 12.50 12.75 rel. intensity 100 80 75 25 40 40 90 85 90 is prepared by heating the alpha -form in aqueous suspension to temperatures of from 40 DEG to 140 DEG C in the presence or absence of dispersants or organic solvents. This crystal form is used alone or mixed with other disperse dyes for dyeing or printing textile materials made of cellulose esters or synthetic polyesters.
