Abstract

An aminotriazine containing from 1.3 to 2n mol of formaldehyde per mol of aminotriazine, where n is the number of amino groups in the aminotriazine, is condensed with an excess of a glycol derivative of the formula I in which R is alkyl with 1-4 carbon atoms and m is an integer from 1 to 4, in the absence of acids and alkalis to a degree of esterification of at least 33 %. The resultant heat-curing amino resins are electrolyte-free and contain on statistical average from 1.3 to 2 n methylol groups per mol of aminotriazine. These amino resins are suitable for the production of pressed products by pressing a combination of the resin with a support or filler material under pressure at elevated temperature.
