Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an unsaturated polyester molded object having a high surface hardness, by method wherein a mixture of a specified melamine resin and an unsaturated alkyd or polyester resin in impregnated in a substrate and dried and further heated under pressure together with an unsaturated polyester molding material.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture is obtained by mixing (A) 10W50wt% of an unsaturated polyester resin obtained by reacting a saturated dibasic acid such as phthalic acid, an unsaturated dibasic acid such as fumaric acid, and a glycol such as ethylene glycol and dissolving the same in a cross-linking monomer such as styrene or 10W 50wt% of an unsaturated alkyd resin obtained by reacting the above-mentioned two acids and glycol and dissolving the same in an organic solvent such as toluene, and (B) 50W90wt% of alkylated methylolmelamine resin such as methylated methylolmelamine. This mixture is then impregnated in the substrate such as glass cloth and dried to obtain prepreg, which is filled between a sheet-or lump-shaped unsaturated polyester molding material and a metal die and further heated under pressure. Thus a desired product can be obtained.
