Abstract

1521723 Vehicle steering; changing wheel gauge S ZELLI 5 Aug 1975 32674/75 Headings B7D and B7H In a trolley, for particular use with cinema and television cameras, with a U-shaped chassis carrying a control handle 27 mounted on a vertical pivot 28, four arms 11-14 are mounted about vertical pivot pins 15-18 on the chassis, each arm carrying a wheel set 19-22 pivotable about a vertical axis, and an endless chain 43 passes round a sprocket 29 integral with the vertical shaft 28, sprockets 30-34 mounted on the chassis and sprockets 35, 36 carried by the pivot pins 17, 18 to transmit rotary motion from the handle 28 to the wheel sets about their vertical axes. Sprocket sets 35, 35a, 35b and 36, 36a, 36b are made integral and rotate about pins 17, 18 respectively while sprockets 37, 37a and 38, 38a rotatable on pins 15, 16 are not integral but may be made so by a coupling mechanism 51. Sprockets 39-42 are made integral with pivot shafts 23-26 of the wheel sets 19-22 and an arrangement of endless chains 44-45, which may be replaced by smooth or toothed belts, connect the sprockets in order to transmit rotary movement to the wheel sets. The wheel sets 19-22 each comprise two outer wheels 60, Fig. 11, with rubber tyres and two inner wheels 61, 62 suitable for movement on tracks 63. The arms 11-14 may be orientated and locked in various angular positions by means of individual release pedals 55-58. A cam 70 freely mounted on steering shaft 28 and the sprocket 29 are capable of being selectively connected or disconnected by a lever mechanism 72 and a roller tappet 71 which follows the cam 70 activates a slider 66 pivotally connected to the ends of compensating arms 64, 65 pivoted on the chassis and bearing the sprockets 31-34.
