Abstract
1520419 Waveguides for the circular-electric mode POST OFFICE 9 Oct 1975 [10 Oct 1974] 43892/74 Heading H1W The radial spacing between the inner and outer tubular members of a screened waveguide intended for propagation of the TE 01 circular electric mode is adjusted to an optimal value as regards bend loss. The spacing lies between 0À54 mm. and 0À60 mm. In such a waveguide, the inner member may consist of a helix of copper wire, the screen of aluminium and the filling between these members of an epoxy resin loaded with iron to provide loss. It is stated that if the thickness of this filling is less than 2% of the diameter of the waveguide, a reduction in bend loss is obtained.
