Abstract

1520186 Alumina and hydraulic cement TATABANYAI SZENBANYAK 15 July 1976 [23 July 1975] 29574/76 Headings C1A and C1H Alumina and hydraulic cement are obtained by heating a finely divided mixture of an aluminabearing siliceous material and limestone at 700-900‹ C. in a fluidized state and then raising the mixture to sintering temperature (e.g. in a rotary kiln), and maintaining thereat for 5 to 10 minutes, allowing the resulting material containing dodeca-calcium hepta-aluminate and the #-modification of di-calcium silicate to cool and undergo disintegration by reason of the phase change of the di-calcium silicate to the y-modification; the alumina is recovered from the dodeca-calcium hepta-aluminate by dissolving in a caustic alkali solution; and the residue is recovered, roasted and, optionally, mixed with gypsum, to give the hydraulic cement.
