Abstract
A delay arrangement (39), an error detector (40) and a control logic circuit (43) are provided to switch one of the operating channels (16-20) over to the reserve channel (28) or vice versa. With the aid of the aforementioned devices, a synchronous relationship is established between the phase of the data signals which pass through the reserve channel (28) and the phase of the data signals which pass through the operating channel which is to be replaced. Furthermore, a changeover switch (34, 35, 36, 37, 38) is in each case assigned to each operating channel (16-20). The control inputs of the changeover switches are connected to outputs (44-48) of the control logic circuit (43) for switching the relevant operating channel over to the reserve channel (28). The changeover is enabled when the error detector (40) identifies precise synchronisation between the aforementioned data signals. In this way, data transmission is not impaired during channel changeover; no data can be lost. <IMAGE>
