Abstract

Detecting subaqueous sounds.-Relates to subaqueous sound-detecting apparatus of the single or double diaphragm type, as described in Specifications 15320/15 and 125,446, and has for its object to provide a baffle of the kind adapted to produce acoustic dissymmetry on the two sides of the diaphragm or diaphragms which can be repeatedly constructed of the same standard dimensions and properties. According to the invention, the baffle comprises a plate or disk A, conveniently of xylonite, formed with a chamber B containing a number of separate and similar bodies of equal size, such as metal balls F enclosed by a cover D conveniently also of xylonite.
