Abstract

151,866. Lant, T. Dec. 16, 1919. Bricklaying apparatus.-A device for ensuring uniform depth of mortar consists of two parallel bars 1 supported on the wall by cross-pieces 3, 5 at a height h above the bricks already laid equal to the depth of mortar desired. The surface of the mortar is made flush with the bars by means of a trowel. To allow for irregularities or unevenness, a lever 8 mounted eccentrically at 6 is provided to adjust the height of one end of the frame. Alternatively, a wedge may be placed under the cross-piece 3. At the other end a frame 11 may be fitted adapted to be spaced by a rod 15 and pin 16 beyond the end c of a brick d. A leading-line 18 may be supported by a notch 19 on the frame 11 and an upright 17. Fig. 10 shows a modified form for application to quoins or corners. Two bars 1, 2 are provided with levels 20, 21 and supported at the requisite height by a pin 16.
