Abstract

1518110 Analogue-to-digital conversion DATRON ELECTRONICS Ltd 20 Oct 1976 [29 Sept 1975] 39846/75 Heading H3H In a dual ramp analogue-to-digital converter, the return ramp is in two sections, a reference signal being integrated at 12 until the first clock pulse after a predetermined level A has been reached, and then a fraction of the reference signal is integrated until the datum level is reached, clock pulses counted in the second section being given a corresponding fractional weighting. As shown, a portion of the reference signal is fed forward via resistors 36, 34 to bias the comparator 30 to level A and at T 4 , Fig. 2, switch 38 closes, reducing the reference signal to <SP>1</SP>/ 10 of its value. During T2-T4 clock pulses are fed via gate 46 to the tens decade of a counter 52-50 and after T 4 via gate 44 to the units decade 52.
