Abstract

1517995 Ion-exchange chromatography HITACHI Ltd 28 April 1976 [19 May 1975] 17314/76 Heading B1H A method for liquid chromatography comprises feeding a sample to be separated into components to a separation column packed with ion exchange resins deformable under pressure, feeding an eluting solution containing counter ions to the column thereby separating the components, detecting a plurality of the components leaving the column, and feeding to the column a regenerating solution containing metal ions having the same electric charge as that of the counter ions and a larger hydration member than that of the counter ions. The counter ions may be sodium and the regenerant ions lithium; or the counter ions may be potassium and the regenerant ions sodium and/or lithium. The process is applicable to the separation of amino-acids.
