Abstract

1517110 Radio receiving systems SIEMENS AG 29 Nov 1976 [28 Nov 1975] 49642/76 Heading H3Q In a frequency spectrum analysis equipment a receiver 1 has an adjustable bandwidth (fu-fo, Fig. 2 not shown) which can be switched over in steps from an initially large bandwidth (B0) to successively smaller bandwidths (B1, B2) the rate of change of the frequency settings is initially rapid, until a received signal (Ux) is detected having an amplitude of a certain amplitude, then a comparator 4 causes a control device such as a computer 5 to set the bandwidth at a narrower value (B1) and also retraces a given frequency range at a slower rate of change of the receiver tuning. The subsequent received signal, if any, causes a further reduction of band width (B2) and rate of change of tuning to occur and a recording or display device 8 is automatically connected such as by a gate 7 to the output of the receiver. The control device 5 then automatically reverts to the initial bandwidth and rate of change of tuning control when the receiver output falls below a given value. The output of the receiver provides amplitude information of the received signals and is fed to a chart recorder or c.r.t. beam defection circuit 8. The receiver 1 is tuned over the range fu-fo by a frequency synthesizer 3 under control of the computer 5. In a modification (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) the synthesizer 3 is replaced by an oscillator (14) controlled by a function generator (13) and digital operating comparator 4 is replaced by an analogue operating comparator (20).
