Abstract

1517025 Preserving rubber latex MALAYSIA RUBBER RESEARCH INSTITUTE BOARD OF 29 July 1976 [20 Aug 1975] 34686/75 Headings C3E and C3K Field latex is preserved from coagulation by from 0À025% to 0À4% by weight of alkali and, as a secondary preservative, a combination of an organic disulphide with zinc oxide or a bactericide. After concentration of the latex containing said preservative, a further amount of a secondary preservative, e.g. the said combination, an enzyme poison or a bactericide, and further alkali may be added. Examples are given in which the latex is preserved by addition of ammonia (or sodium hydroxide), tetramethyl thiuram disulphide (TMTD) (or tetraethylthiuram disulphide) and zinc oxide; or addition of ammonia, TMTD and a bactericide selected from 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, methylene-bis-4-chlorophenol, boric acid, hydrazine hydrate and hydroxylamine neutral sulphate; or of ammonia, ammonium laurate, diammonium hydrogen phosphate, TMTO and zinc oxide.
