Abstract

1515538 Articulated arms; measuring angles NATIONAL SUPPLY CO (UK) Ltd 1 Oct 1976 [30 Oct 1975] 45050/75 Headings G1M G1N and G1X An articulated arm comprising two limbs 1, 4, Figs 3, 4 hinged at 5 has the other end of limb 1 attached by a hinge 2 to a vertical support 3 and carries a connector 6 at the other end of limb 4. The position of the connector 6 in terms of x, y, z co-ordinates with respect to mutually perpendicular axes through the hinge 2 are determined by measurements of the angles α, #, γ shown using resolvers, and summing amplifiers utilizing the known lengths a, b of the limbs 1, 4. The calculated values of x, y, z are compared with pre-set limits and operate alarms when a limit is exceeded.
