Abstract

1515495 Colour television tubes INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 17 Feb 1977 [19 Feb 1976] 06688/77 Heading H1D The multi-gun assembly of a colour television tube is angularly aligned about its longitudinal axis with respect to the phosphor pattern on the screen of the tube by separately positioning the tube envelope and the gun, before assembly, in a sealing device with the gun assembly rotatable about its axis and provided with optically effective position marks, e.g. apertures 7 and 8 in the convergence pot 6, Fig. 1; illuminating the marks by one or more light sources 1; receiving light from the marks in one or more receivers 2; and evaluating the output of the receiver(s) to determine the rotation required for correct alignment. For the arrangement of Fig. 1, the gun assembly would be rotated to provide maximum output from receiver 2, which is the situation shown. Reflecting rather than transmitting optical, marks may be employed.
