Abstract

151,521. Parker, R. T. Jan. 26, 1920. Vertical-cutter type for cutting sheet material in direction of feed.-Relates to detail improvements on machines of the kind described in Specification 1784/06, in which knives D are mounted between brackets E and stays G to pass through coincident grooves cut in a pair of gripping-rollers A, B, which feed the fabric &c. forward. According to the present invention, the rear ends of the knives D are secured to the stay G by means of screws R or similar fastenings, instead of lying in notches cut therein. The stay itself is made in two parts in order to facilitate changing the knives. Clearers I are mounted as shown to keep the grooves in the bottom roller B free from accumulated fluff &c. A series of stripping-fingers (not shown) co-operate with auxiliary grooves cut in the lower roller, to prevent the fabric from adhering to the roughened surface of the roller. An endless belt is employed to feed the fabric to the gripping-rollers.
