Abstract

In a circulation apparatus, composed of a centrifugal pump (1), a valve (9), a heat exchanger (4) and a flowmeter (10), the finished product is circulated. The finished product is initially dosed with a first liquid reaction component, which does not result in phase separation. A second liquid reaction component which, added in local excess, causes separation of a second phase, is dosed in through an insert tube with a nozzle, the nozzle being run to near the intake side of the pump rotor (2) of the centrifugal pump (1). In this arrangement, the finished product flows around the nozzle with an average velocity of at least 2.5 m/s; the reaction component dosed in through the nozzle has an outflow velocity of from 1.5 to 3.5 m/s. This makes it possible to mix liquids intimately in so short a time that local concentration differences cannot arise. The invention can be used successfully for preparing monoalkali metal phosphate solutions from phosphoric acid and alkali solution from alkali metal hydroxides or carbonates. <IMAGE>
