Abstract

1514917 Spring hinges CROMPTON NETTLEFOLD STENMAN Ltd 23 Jan 1976 [1 Feb 1975 19 July 1975] 4462/75 and 30365/75 Heading E2F A spring hinge for connection between a door and door post is provided with three axially aligned, tubular portions, the outer two 41, 42 are rigidly interconnected and are provided with means 45 for connection to the door or post, the centre portion 47 is also provided with connection means 48 and is mounted for pivotal movement relative to the portions 41, 42; a shaft 50 extending through the three portions to hold them in alignment and permit pivotal movement and two torsion springs 59, 60 which are each connected to portion 47 and to a respective portion 41, 42. A central portion 55 of shaft 50 is slotted at 56 to receive ends of the springs and has a number of apertures 67 which can be selectively engaged by a pin 68. A slot 69 in the portion 49 receives the pin 68 and the torsional loading of the springs is adjusted by selecting which aperture 67 receives the pin. The portions 45, 48 are adapted to engage in sockets secured to the door and door post.
