Abstract

1514541 Injection moulding nozzle DEMAG KUNSTSTOFFTECHNIK ZWEIGNIEDERLUSSUNG DER DEMAG AG 27 May 1975 [27 May 1974] 23088/75 Heading B5A The temperature of injected moulding material is controlled by varying the cross section of the injection nozzle passage 13 and/or of the sprue 19 in the mould 18 in response to a pressure or temperature sensor positioned downstream of the control position. In Fig. 1 (not shown) the nozzle passage is varied in size by means of a screw-threaded throttling pin (5). In Fig. 2 a throttling pin (15) is biased away from the nozzle passage 13 by a spring 22 but can be extended into the passage by means of ball 23 acted upon by a wedge surface 24 on a plunger 25. The plunger is biased to the right in Fig. 2 by a spring 31 but can be advanced by means of three hydraulic pistons 32-34 arranged in tandem. The pressure in the mould cavity 20 is measured by a meter 38 and controls the pressure applied to the pistons 32-34 and thus controls the extent of throttling of the passage 13.
