Abstract

1514005 High impact polystyrene ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 20 July 1976 [21 July 1975] 30177/76 Heading C3P A high-impact polystyrene composition is produced by dissolving 2 to 20% by weight of a butadiene-styrene copolymer in 98 to 80% of styrene monomer and polymerizing the resulting solution, said butadiene-styrene copolymer having been produced by solution polymerization using an organolithium compound as catalyst and said copolymer having a styrene content in the range of from more than 10% up to at most 30% and having at least one block (A) comprising a butadiene-styrene random copolymer having a substantially high styrene content and at least one block (B) comprising a butadiene-styrene random copolymer having a substantially low styrene content. Examples are given in which the composition is produced by bulk or bulk-suspension polymerization techniques and a monomer mixture of styrene and acrylonitrile is polymerized in some cases.
