Abstract

1513876 Plant pots; watering plants M PAULUSSEN and N D DICKSON 28 Aug 1975 35567/75 Heading A1E In a self-watering plant container 1, a closed reservoir 3, adjacent a growing compartment 2, supplies water via hole 9 to the bottom of the growing compartment so as to leave an air space 10 between the bottom of the growing medium and the surface of the water in the compartment 2, the growing medium being in contact with the airspace so that moisture from the water vapour in the airspace can be taken up by the growing medium. The growing medium is supported on a plate 5 provided with holes 6. To prevent flooding of the compartment 2 upon removing a closure 8 from a filling hole 7 of the reservoir 3, a slide valve arrangement is provided to block the hole 9.
