Abstract
1513242 Induction heating NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 21 May 1975 [27 Feb 1974] 44731/77 Divided out of 1513241 Heading H5H Induction heating apparatus comprises a first group 52 of magnetically permeable core modules 50 which are disposed side by side and have slotted faces lying in a common plane which is spaced from the slotted faces of the magnetic core modules 50 of a second group 53,each of the modules being wound with polyphase windings connectible independently to a polyphase source so that a travelling wave magnetic field is produced which travels in a direction parallel to the planes of the slotted faces. As shown each module has a pair of poles N-S, and the like poles of one group of modules 52 are opposite like poles of the other group of modules 53. The apparatus heats a stationary slab and by selective energization of the modules, adjustment of the gap between the groups of modules 52, 53, and axial adustment of the modules of each group, different sized slabs may be heated.
