Abstract

1513025 Windows INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO OF GREAT BRITAIN Ltd 25 July 1975 31201/75 Heading E1J [Also in Division B7] In a vehicle cab wherein a rear window hinged about its upper edge 24 to the cab is divided into two portions by a second horizontal hinge 25, resilient means 36 bias the window to an open or closed position when the window is opened by more than or less than a predetermined angle respectively as shown in Fig. 2. The resilient means comprise fluid filled rams 36 which are preloaded to thrust outwardly and pass "over centre" as the window is opened or closed. The lower window portion 26 is frameless and seals against a resilient strip 28, 29 around the cab edge, the lower edge of portion 26 entering a channel formed in resilient portion 29. The rams 36 may be replaced by an assembly of Belleville washers having a similar "over centre" action. Alternatively a resilient torsion spring means may be employed. When fully closed the upper and lower window portions 26, 27 could be substantially planar rather than angled as shown. The window also hinge about its upper edge to open inwardly.
