151,251. Bricka, F. Sept. 19, 1919, [Convention date]. Combing-machines.-In a combing-machine of the Heilmann or like type, in which the comb teeth are arranged on the outer or inner surface of a cylinder or cone, or on a flat surface, a movable comb-bar is arranged to co-operate with the final fixed bar of the comb. The teeth on the movable bar are arranged at an acute angle relatively to the fixed comb teeth and are moved into position between the fixed teeth to comb the tuft held in the nipper jaws. In a segmental comb in a Heilmann machine, the movable combbar 7 is adjustably mounted in supports 6 pivoted at 5 to the revolving comb support. A bowl 9, the support of which is accommodated in a recess in the disc 12 carrying the comb segment 4, runs on a fixed cam 11 and moves the comb c into position with its teeth in between the teeth of the fixed comb and at angle to them, as shown in Fig. 4. The comb-bar 7 is kept in its normal position by a spring 13, which presses an adjusting set-screw 14 against the inner surface of the segment 4.
