Abstract

1512462 Polymer containing epoxy groups CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED 19 Dec 1975 [29 Dec 1974] 52051/75 Heading C3P A polymer in the form of spherical particles having a diameter up to 3 mm. and containing 15% by weight of oxirane oxygen is obtained by aqueous suspension copolymerization, in the presence of an alcohol and a suspension stabilizer, of a monomer of Formula I where R1, R2 and R3 are independently H or CH3- and X is a vinyl or vinylidene containing group linked by C or O to the monomer, with a cross-linking agent selected from divinyl benzene and monomers of the formula where R4 is H, CH3, C2H5 or halogen, R5 is C1-C10 alkylene, phenylene or hydroxyalkylene and R6 is vinyl or allyl. In the examples glycidyl(meth)acrylate or glycidyl allylether is copolymerized with ethylene (or butylene) glycol dimethacrylate alone or together with methyl methacrylate in aqueous suspension in the presence of dodecanol, cyclohexanol polyvinyl pyrrolidone and azobisisobutyronitrile.
