Abstract

1512047 Pistons MAHLE GmbH 1 Aug 1975 [16 Aug 1974] 32230/75 Heading F2T Movement of the connecting rod relative to the skirt 3 of a piston produces relative rotation of the head 1 and skirt 3. The skirt is in halves along its longitudinal axis to allow assembly of a circular flange 5 on the head in a circular recess formed by a hook section 4 on the skirt. The head is rotated relative to the skirt by levers 7, pivotted on plates 11 bolted to the skirt, engaging pins 14 on the gudgeon pin 13 and having panels 8 engaging ratchet teeth 9 formed in the piston head. Thrust on the head is transmitted to the skirt by flange 5 and by face 20 engaging flange 30 on the skirt.
