1511479 Preparation of maleic anhydride IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 22 July 1975 [27 Sept 1974] 42041/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Maleic anhydride is made by the oxidation of benzene with O 2 at elevated temperature in the presence of a catalyst comprising a particulate refractory support and active material which is a mixture of; the parts being by weight, 1 part MoO 3 , 1À5-8 parts vanadium oxides calculated as V 2 O 5 , 0À1-0À01 part P 2 O 5 , 0À1- 0À01 part Na, 0À1-0À01 part Ni and 0À5-0À01 part Tl, there being 3-15 parts of support per part of active material.
