Abstract
1511438 Di-carboxylic acid esters IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 March 1977 [12 April 1976] 14759/76 Heading C2C Diesters of mixed adipic, glutaric and succinic acids with alcohols (6-13C) are prepared from a residue containing catalyst metals and adipic glutaric and succinic acids by reacting in molten form at 50‹ to 120‹ C. with the alcohol until an aqueous and organic phase is formed, separating the organic phase and completing the esterification thereof. The residue is that remaining after the separation of adipic acid and nitric acid from the product of the nitric acid oxidation of cyclohexanol, cyclohexanone and mixtures thereof in the presence of a metallic catalyst.
