Abstract

1511060 Pressure-sensitive adhesive sheets UNITIKA Ltd and UNITIKA SPARKLITE CO Ltd 1 Oct 1975 [16 Oct 1974] 40186/75 Heading B2E [Also in Division B5] An air-impermeable heat-and pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet having on its back surface a layer of heat - and pressure-sensitive adhesive is provided on the surface of the adhesive with one or more ridges or recesses at least one end of which intersects the end edge of the sheet. The cross-section of the ridges or recesses may be in the form of an arc, triangle or rectangle and the ridges or recesses may be in the form of parallel straight or wave lines or of a grid network. The ridges or recesses may be provided on the adhesive layer by providing ridges or recesses on a release sheet of paper or synthetic resin and applying the release sheet under heat and pressure to an air-impermeable sheet coated with the heat- and pressure-sensitive adhesive to bond them together, or by coating the ridged or recessed surface of the release sheet with the heat- and pressure-sensitive adhesive and applying it to the back of the air impermeable sheet for transfer. The release sheet is stripped off before use. The adhesive is preferably a rubber-type adhesive having a melting point of 70‹-80‹C.
