Abstract

1510992 Reducing iron ore KINGLOR METOR SpA 20 May 1975 [11 June 1974 24 April 1975] 21530/75 Heading C7D A mixture of iron ore and coal, possibly also containing an activating and/or desulphurizing agent, is charged to the top of a shaft into which a reducing gas may be injected if desired. The charge is pre-heated in a first zone of the shaft down which it passes at constant velocity, followed by progressive heating to reduction temperature in a second zone in which the rate of descent progressively decreases. The temperature is maintained constant in the lower part of the second zone and in a third zone. The discharge operation is such that the temporary speed of descent is maintained constant across any horizontal cross-section of the shaft.
